It's Wednesday and there are a few topics that caught my attention this week as…
Travelling all day today …
There will be no blog post today as I am travelling for the next 24 hours or so to Europe via LA. I have a detective novel to read – well 79 in fact, I have just started the complete Maigret series written by Belgian author Georges Simenon – so in the spirit of that great song from the Who – I hope I get finished with the series before I get old! And regular transmission will probably resume from Paris on Tuesday. While I am flying I will not be attending to comments that need moderation. So it might be some time before you see your comment published (or not). I hope to see many MMT people at one or more of the events where I will be speaking in the next two weeks – the details are overleaf.

Music to make travelling easier …
I really like this track – Dark And Lovely (You Over There) – from Barry White – the guitar break at the end elevates the song to some height.
Yes, I think Barry White was a great singer. You need guys like this to add some crazy stuff – his bass-baritone voice and his unashamed romanticism to the music offerings.
I have one of his albums – this one – The Ultimate Collection – which was released in 2000.
I also liked his history – gang member, jailed, heard Elvis singing while he was in jail, life changing, became one of the great soul singers.
I promise I will never post another Barry White song!
But then admit it – he was really something and it was sad to see him go so early.
You are pushing your musical taste with Barry White! A first1 Still you are redeemed thanks to the Fun Loving Criminals – Barry White Saved My Life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZui5pteOoM
That’s a very busy schedule and it is good to see talks at the ECB and to City of London officials.
We will hold you to account on “I promise I will never post another Barry White song!”
Simenon says he had had sex with 10,000 women.
It’s a wonder he found time to write anything.
