My time in Japan this year has come to an end (sob). It is back…
Tomorrow (Thursday, June 24, 2010) I am turning off an old server that has been hosting the blog and turning on a new server which will provide faster delivery of pages and will be more reliable.
The URL – http://bilbo.economicoutlook.net – will remain the same and the transition will involve renaming the old server and transferring the name bilbo over to the new server.
The DNS maps that direct traffic around the Internet may take an hour or so to update their databases to the new IP address.
So while I have fairly foolproof scripts in place to redirect any traffic that happens to be sent to the old bilbo during the refreshing stage it would probably be better not to post any comments between 9.30 and 10.30 Sydney time tomorrow (24 hour clock).
The following times will help you in your own time zone.
London – 12:30 to 1:30, Thursday, June 24 (early morning).
New York – 17:30 to 18:30, Wednesday, June 23.
Paris – 1:30 to 2:30, Thursday, June 24 (early morning).
San Francisco – 14:30 to 15:30, Wednesday, June 23.
It should be a transparent switch-over. But if there are glitches please excuse me and I will sort them out fairly quickly.
