The title of the seminar is: “The Need for and Feasibility of a ‘High-Pressure Economy: Determining Appropriate Levels of Investment in Light of Construction Sector Capacity'”

I will be joined by Professor Satoshi Fujii and we will each speak for around 30-40 minutes.

It will consider the following topics:

  • The current need for a high-pressure economy (HPE) in Japan.
  • To achieve an HPE, government spending must be aligned with the economy’s supply capacity. Therefore, it is essential to accurately assess Japan’s actual supply capacity.
  • What is the current supply capacity in the construction sector.
  • Given environment constraints, is a strong growth strategy feasible
  • What is the feasibility of a zero growth strategy for Japan given demographic trends especially in the context of the traditional principle of Shinbo (patience and perseverance).

That is enough for today!
