Stranded by weather – no blog post today

I haven’t much time today and I am trying to work out how I am going to get home (a 1,100 km journey) amidst travel chaos wrought by extreme weather conditions in South East Australia over the last few days. The weather disruptions to travel are becoming more common in Australia and the associated property damage is also rising. I know all the arguments that there have always been bad storms etc, but the data (as far back as we can go) is telling us that these extreme events are increasing in frequency and severity. Anyway, I have my fingers crossed that I will eventually get home. I will spend the time I have between checking weather reports furthering the research I have been doing for my next book (with Dr Louisa Connors – due out early 2025) on degrowth, decolonisation and currency delinking. In that vein, I have been considering the literature on the concept of delinking. There are a number of dimensions to consider and I will provide an update on Thursday of this week. For now, I have some travel planning to do.
