My blog has gone on holidays

My blog is on holiday until Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

We are planning to finish the manuscript for the Second Edition of our Macroeconomics textbook by year’s end and that is what I am working fervently on in the next week.

I am also preparing for a conversation next week with the Post-Neoliberalism Oral History Project which is run out of Columbia University. The Project is documenting the views of various writers who have contributed to topics of relevance to the theme. I am very happy to have been selected.

And this morning I was out in force – freezing at the local Parkrun. It’s Summer and yet the weather is like Winter.

The weather is being driven by the so-called – Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) – event over Antartica, which has disrupted the Polar Vortex since September.

Not only has the temperature at the pole risen significantly but the SSW has pushed cold air and very high winds into the mid-latitudes – that is, where I live.

The SSW has persisted for several months now and has made the Spring and early Summer feel very much like Winter, although I was away in Japan for the Spring.

So today, at the Parkrun start line it was freezing.

There were also a lot of people dressed in funny clothes too, like this woman. I wasn’t sure what that was about and I was too cold to ask.

But the running was good.

All the best for 2026.

That is enough for today!
