Only one day each year!

Its that time of the year …

Among the gifts I received … a helmet to surf with. I have been making off-hand comments about how dangerous the surf is getting when crowded and that I might have to wear a helmet – more and more surfers are doing so now. I would never have done it myself though – there is still some pride! But now I have to!

And, … a year’s supply of my favourite Indian hand-made sandalwood soap – our house is very fragrant this evening!

The number of candles on the cake represent a complex non-linear function of my age.

On the same day in 1917, the first jazz record titled Dixie Jass Band One Step was recorded by the Nick LaRocca Original Dixieland Jass Band in Camden, New Jersey (the spelling Jazz was a few years off yet). Here is the original recording.
